Madison: In the Pires Lab, Madison mastered RNA and DNA isolation. She demonstrated a keen understanding of plant care and greenhouse activities and was involved in a project about the Brassicaceae family. She is a 2012-2013 fellow in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Program at Mizzou. After returning from studying abroad at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, she found a new interest in science journalism! Follow her blog to learn about her work with elephant sharks! She has shared her work in our lab and her adventure in Australia in a community of science bloggers at MU.
Matt: Matt helped in the greenhouse and organized seed for a project on Brassica rapa, which includes many vegetable and oilseed crops. Dustin was glad to be a part of Matt’s experience while he was figuring out his interests and priorities at MU. It takes a lot of courage and dedication to tackle the organization of an entire established lab’s seed collection!
